While the virus has been contained, its effects are most evident in the devastated streets of the nation's capital where survivors cling to hope and struggle to rebuild. Enter The Division, a unit of civilian sleeper agents who now must work to stop enemy factions from completely taking over the city – and ultimately, the nation. As a universally-regarded seat of power, if D.C. falls, the nation falls. With civilians helpless and fearing for their lives, players will be the last line of defense in preventing the total collapse of society. [Ubisoft] Expand

The Division 2 has far more content than the original, it is set in a bigger and more varied city, and it shows great balance in loot and character levelling. It is too conservative in gameplay and level design, but we still love its gunplay and cover systems.

Story failings and technical hiccups aside, Ubisoft has a winner on its hands with The Division 2. The strong combat, interesting missions, and compelling loot loop kept me invested through the endgame, and I don’t plan to stop playing anytime soon. For a live-service game just getting out of the gate, that’s quite an achievement.

The Division 2 is great for what it is, and a vastly superior product when compared to the original, with the sequel having improved upon practically every feature found within The Division 1. While it doesn’t exactly blaze adventurous new paths for the genre or deliver a glut of surprises, it nails what’s most important in a loot-based shooter – it’s fun and motivates players to come back for more.

As someone who plays nearly every shooter on the market, I was inescapably drawn in by how tightly wound The Division 2 really is. Nearly every weapon feels satisfying to wield and the skills (which range from drones to self-firing turrets to revive grenades) are just wacky enough to make for some appreciable moment-to-moment gameplay.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 raises the bar for the looter shooter genre. Put simply, it is the complete package.

Some who want a deeply-engaging story for a memorable solo gaming experience may feel let down, but someone who wants competitive and team-based gun battles could easily get several dozen or maybe even hundreds of hours of enjoyment from this title. The RPG elements allow players to make their characters truly their own and allows the freedom to build within their preferred playstyle.

It’s remorseless violence, repetitious and ingrained after only a few hours. The Division 2 becomes a passive activity, blind to basic narrative technique and crass in form. No characters stand out, no personalities prove memorable, while the ultimate purpose seems to only instill an eventual tyranny.

Having a blast so far. Everything the Division 1 should have been. Gun play feels great, enemies less bullet spongy

Finally, an online game that is actually playable on release. The Division 2 is a thoroughly developed loot shooter with virtually endless content.

    *Based on first 3 hours*

Division 2 is an improvement over Division 1 both in terms of quality and gameplay. The game brings improvements provided to Division 1 from the start which is a most welcome addition to the looter shooter genre as we often see (i.e. Destiny 2) the sequels being worse at launch than the original game. The performance on PC is decent. I have a high end one and only problem I have is microstutter, other than that the game runs fine.

My biggest gripe is how this feels more like Division 1.5 instead of Division 2, for all new additions I feel they are just too minor and too similar to make it truly feel like a sequel, instead it seems like a giant expansion to me.

While I will have more impressions about the game as I continue to explore its world I feel like 8 is going to be my final score. If this was Division 1 at launch, I would have given it a 6.
